Fifty years after the first deployment of the Yamaha riders on the grid of a World Championship, Ben Spies, in his debut as a Yamaha rider, helped to commemorate the event with his first win in MotoGP , Assen in June 2011. Driving a YZR-M1 special livery with red and white of the 50th Anniversary in the world championships of speed, Spies continued the glorious tradition of winning, which allowed Yamaha to establish itself among the most creative and innovative manufacturers.

To celebrate half a century of success in Grand Prix racing, Yamaha has created a limited edition models with unique livery “WGP 50th Anniversary.” Inspired by the classic color that debuted in 2011 on motion of Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, is a graphic timeless design that recalls the now-famous chess “Speedblock” used to Yamaha’s pioneering of the first Grand Prix.
The livery “WGP 50th Anniversary” dedicated to Yamaha’s sports clients of all ages, will be available in limited number of YZF-R1, YZF-R6, FZ8, YZF-R125 and TZR50 Aerox 50. The limited edition model in Yamaha YZF-R1 50th Anniversary WGP will, serial, Akrapovic titanium. The full color range Yamaha motorcycles and scooters for the 2012 season will presented in November at the EICMA 2011. The expected opening of the Exhibition of Milan will advance important new Yamaha products, especially in the scooter, where it is awaiting a new and even more performance version of the legendary T-Max.
