Formally breaking cover now, the 2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer continues the British company’s revamping of their adventure-tourer line. Having a 1200cc three-cylinder motor, the Tiger Explorer may be the bigger brother from the popular mid-sized Tiger 800, which first showed this past year after much build-up. Sans a couple of spy photos plus some rumormill, Triumph has had a decidedly various and more low-key approach to get purchasers looking forward to the brand new Tiger, though we believe Triumph fans will enjoy the things they see.
Not surprisingly Triumph is keeping the majority of the particulars around the Tiger Explorer still under systems, likely wanting to hang about until EICMA release a full the technical specifications, but we all do realize that the 2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer is going to be shaft-driven, have ride-by-wire throttle control, and are available standard with switchable ABS & traction control. The chassis consists of steel, as the wheels are cast aluminum (19? in advance, 17? within the back).
We actually like what Triumph has been doing using the Tiger Explorer’s styling, keeping the bigger adventure-tourer close enough towards the Tiger 800′s aesthetic, and keep them different enough to create each model unique. Obviously, it will help that we’re suckers for any nice single-on the sides swingarm design, which increases the premium feel and look that you simply expect in the British brand. Not sure yet on prices or availability, so stay updated once we get nearer to EICMA.
